Working in Partnership
At Thomas A Becket Infant School, we believe that working in partnership with other schools, educational providers, families and community organisations is vital to providing the best possible outcomes for our children.
Our partnerships support children’s learning and development across the curriculum and beyond. They also provide valuable opportunities for staff to share expertise, develop their practice and learn from others. Through these relationships, we aim to enrich our children’s experiences, promote their wellbeing and prepare them to become responsible, confident and curious learners.
Working with Local Schools
Central Worthing Locality
We work closely with other schools within the Central Worthing Locality, including Heene Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School, Thomas A Becket Junior School, Vale Primary School, Bohunt School and Worthing High School.
Through these partnerships, we support effective transition arrangements for pupils moving between schools and collaborate on projects that promote attendance, pupil wellbeing and positive educational experiences. Working together enables us to share good practice and provide continuity and support throughout children’s educational journeys.
Worthing Locality
Alongside schools in East Worthing Locality, we work collaboratively across the wider Worthing area to moderate expectations, standards and judgements in English. This helps promote consistency in assessment and supports high standards of teaching and learning.
Worthing Schools’ Sports Association
We participate in a range of events and competitions organised through the Worthing Schools’ Sports Association. These opportunities encourage children to enjoy physical activity, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, and take pride in representing their school.
Supporting Future Educators
Teacher Training Providers
We work closely with South Downs SCITT and the universities of Brighton, Sussex and Chichester to provide placement opportunities for trainee teachers. These partnerships allow aspiring teachers to gain valuable classroom experience while contributing to the professional learning and development of our school community.
Worthing College
We support T Level and NVQ students from Worthing College by providing placement opportunities. This enables students to develop practical skills and gain valuable experience in a school environment as they prepare for their future careers.
Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility
We are committed to helping our children understand the importance of caring for the environment and making responsible choices for the future. Our partnerships support our sustainability work and provide opportunities for children to learn about the world around them.
Southern Water
Through a grant from Southern Water, we are developing opportunities to engage children in learning about water conservation. Planned activities will help children understand why water is a precious resource and how small changes can make a positive difference to the environment.
CREW – Climate Resilience Centre Worthing
We work with CREW (Climate Resilience Centre Worthing) to support our sustainability work. This partnership helps us explore ways to develop environmental awareness and encourage children to think about climate resilience and how we can care for our local environment.
Our Nurture Farm and Wider Community
Our Nurture Farm provides valuable opportunities for children to learn through practical, hands-on experiences. It helps develop responsibility, compassion and respect for animals, while supporting children’s understanding of nature, food production and the environment.
Families and the School Community
We value the contribution of our families and wider school community. Parents, carers and other members of the community support activities such as caring for our farm and enriching children’s learning experiences. These contributions help strengthen our school community and provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn from others.
DEFRA – Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
We use guidance and information from DEFRA to support the responsible management of our Nurture Farm and to help ensure that we follow relevant government guidance relating to animal welfare and the environment.
APHA – Animal and Plant Health Agency
We also refer to guidance from APHA to support animal health and welfare on our Nurture Farm. This helps us understand and follow the relevant requirements and guidance for keeping animals safely and responsibly.
Promoting Safe and Sustainable Travel
Modeshift STARS
We use Modeshift STARS to support our school travel plan and promote safer, healthier and more sustainable journeys to and from school. This helps us work towards relevant local authority travel guidance and encourages our school community to consider the benefits of active and responsible travel wherever possible.
Professional Collaboration and Shared Expertise
Worthing School Business Managers and Bursars Network
We value our links with the Worthing School Business Managers and Bursars Network. Working alongside colleagues from other schools provides opportunities to share knowledge, discuss common challenges and develop effective approaches to school business management.
Assessment and Moderation
We work in partnership with external moderators and colleagues from other schools to review and validate our assessment judgements. This supports consistency, helps maintain high standards and ensures that our assessments accurately reflect children’s learning and progress.
Working Together for Our Children
Partnership working is at the heart of our approach at Thomas A Becket Infant School. Whether we are collaborating with local schools, supporting future educators, caring for our Nurture Farm or helping children understand their role in protecting the environment, these relationships enrich learning and strengthen our school community.
By working together with families, professionals and organisations, we aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive.
